Vampire Facial

Vampire Facial in St. George, UT – Oasis Aesthetics

It only takes a few minutes on social media to see one of your favorite stars with blood on their face getting a treatment colloquially called a “vampire facial.” The addition of high-quality Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to our microneedling treatments, done using the state-of-the-art SkinPen system, helps promote the best results by increasing cell turnover, which promotes healing.

What Does a PRP Facial Do?

The goal of a vampire facial is to reduce fine lines and produce smoother and softer skin. Our patients report their skin appears plumper and glows after they heal from their treatments. When added topically to the face during a microneedling session, PRP will help promote healing and cell turnover due to the growth factors found in your blood. PRP with microneedling has also been shown to be effective for scars, as well as melasma.

Do Vampire Facials Really Work?

Platelets have a special role in our bodies and are known to release unique proteins and growth factors that promote healing. Results show vampire facials with high-quality PRP adds another layer of therapy to microneedling by allowing the body to heal faster. Compared to microneedling alone, patients report faster healing and better results long term.

Remember that not all PRP equipment is created equally. Ask your doctor what concentration they are using as you will see the best results from high-quality PRP with a platelet concentration 5x your normal blood. At Oasis Aesthetics, Dr. Wallin insists on offering the highest quality product for his patients. We offer ProGEN PRP Versa system, which allows for a 5x concentration of PRP. Our goal is to provide the best product to achieve the best result possible for our patients.

How Long Do PRP Facials Last?

Your body needs time to heal even after the pinkness has improved on your skin. You will find that the results will improve for the first 2-3 months after the treatment and often last 1-2 years after your body’s skin and growth factors have stimulated your repair.

How Long Does It Take to Recover from a Vampire Facial?

It is normal for your face to have a pink color after the treatment for a day or two. This pink color shows that your face has had an appropriate treatment, and it will stimulate collagen production to rejuvenate your skin.

Do PRP Facials Hurt?

In order to obtain PRP, you will need to have a venipuncture to obtain your blood. This allows us to spin your blood and separate it into different parts, leaving the growth factors and stem cells that promote healing. If you’ve never had microneedling using the SkinPen, our Licensed Aesthetician will apply a numbing cream to your face to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Most patients tell us it is only minimally uncomfortable to have this treatment.

What are the Risks of a PRP Facial?

The risk of contamination from another person’s blood is not an issue, as we never reuse any disposable equipment in our office. Safety is our first priority. We encourage all our patients to consider their safety a priority and seek treatments with physicians on-site.

PRP Facial Aftercare

Similar to microneedling, we ask you to avoid touching or washing your face for the first three days. You will be given products to be used at home for comfort and moisture. After 24 hours, a gentle cleanser can be used for the following 3 days. No other skin care products will be necessary during that time. After three days, you will resume your normal skin care regimen. It is important to note that studies have shown that Vitamin A products have been shown to enhance microneedling results.

You should avoid exercising, sweating, heat, and prolonged sun exposure for 3 days following the treatment to allow your skin time to heal. We recommend you wear sunscreen with 35 SPF or higher daily and wear a hat when going outside. It is normal to have redness, itching, and a tight feeling after the procedure. Many people say it feels as though they have a mild sunburn.

Avoid any further treatment until your follow up visit in 4 weeks post-procedure.
